Thank you for registering for Dean Jean's Food Truck Farewell Student Social on April 4th at 11am. 

Please submit a short video wishing Dean Jean well and talking about why you love the Faculty of Environment for a chance to win one of three prizes:
  • 1 hour of one-on-one time with Dean Jean herself;
  • A stuffed Waterloo goose; and
  • A Faculty of Environment branded hoodie sweater

Video Content Instructions:
  • Please start your video by stating your name, degree (undergrad or grad), program (ex: KI), and year (ex: 1B)
  • Please say "Congrats Jean", waving for 5 seconds afterward then pausing
  • Then, please share why you love being an Environment student, what kind of impact Dean Jean has had on you, and any well wishes you have for her.
  • The content of your video is ultimately up to you. Make it funny, sweet, informative - whatever tone you want.
  • We advise always starting with gratitude.
  • Create a video between thirty seconds and a minute to keep people engaged.
  • Be yourself and have fun!

Recording Tips:
  • You can record directly to ThankView on your desktop or mobile device.
    Make sure to film horizontally so you fill the frame.
  • When recording with a phone or tablet, use a tripod or prop it up with something like books for stability. Try not to hold it.
  • Keep your device close for good sound quality but far enough away that you are the focus. Try 3-4 feet.
  • Consider shooting in a location your recipients may recognize.
  • Choose a location that provides balanced lighting. Try to find a room that has a lot of natural light.
  • Record with the window facing you so you benefit from the natural light. If the window is behind you, you will appear shadowed.
  • Choose a flattering angle for your recording. Shooting from below is not usually a person’s best angle.
  • Avoid echo chambers. Oftentimes sparse offices or conference rooms with glass walls can create a lot of echoes.
  • Avoid blustery locations or areas with a lot of foot or vehicle traffic as your device’s mic may pick up noise.
  • Avoid wearing something extremely bright as it will wash you out on camera. Also, make sure it’s something you won’t regret in six months!
  1. Select ‘Record Video’ to begin the process
  2. Enable your webcam.
  3. Click ‘Start Recording’ and wait for the 3 second countdown.
  4. When you are finished recording, click ‘Stop Recording.’
  5. Wait for your video to upload to our servers.
  6. Click the play button to review your video. If you are not satisfied with your recording, you can click ‘Rerecord’ and try again. If you are satisfied with your recording, click ‘Submit Video’.
  7. Accept our terms and conditions to complete submission.
  1. Select ‘Record Video’ to begin the process.
  2. Click ‘Record Video’ or ‘Upload Video’. Please wait for your video to upload to our servers.
  3. Click the play button to review your video. You can rerecord or upload another video if you are not satisfied with your recording.
  4. If you are satisfied with your recording, click ‘Submit Video’ and ‘Continue’ to accept our terms and conditions and submit your video.
